Ojej, ten kolor... jak ja mam teraz zasnąć! Jak wielu z Was wie, ja cały czas staram się bronić Nowej Ery Nw - prowadzę konstruktywne dyskusje wobec wyrzucenia Tarji, wysuwam argumenty pozytywne dla DPP, no... i obalam wszelkie teorie o popularyzacji bandu, ale kiedy widzę wywiad w takiej otoczce kolorystycznej tracę chęci by dalej bronić maj fejwrit bend.

First the interview goes back to the autumn of 2006.
Tarot had a gig in Tampere and the Nightwish manager Ewo was there with "his Swedish cousin" Anette Olzon. Anette admires that Marco is really a fantastic vocalist.

- I sent my Ever Dream demo to Tuomas already at the end 2005, so I had to live in suspense for over a year. At some point I was already losing my hope since I thought they had picked someone else.
But Anette did not give up all hope, instead she decided to send the band more proofs about her skills.
- I had a feeling that we were meant to be together. At the same time I was afraid of going back to square one. I had been singing since little and I felt I was ready for bigger boots.

- When I was about 16 I joined a cover band and began to tour in Sweden and Denmark. In those small corner bars you really learn to fight in order to be heard. Sometimes the feedback was really ugly "Don´t play this kind of crap" etc.

The second part of the interview is made on their way to Turku Ruisrock.

- The Nightwish spring tour was a very heavy experience. We played many gigs in Europe as well as in America and that of course meant a lot of travelling. In the early summer I was really exhausted and had fever on several occasions. I had to take antibiotics at least three times within a few weeks´period.

Anette says she´s really grateful they didn´t book too many gigs for the summer.
- Luckily I´ve been able to enjoy the summer with my son and my friends.

Then they talk about the Rock am Ring festival gig with its technical problems.
- Of course the situation was extremely unpleasant, but the irony of the whole situation almost made me laugh - it was my way to deal with the incredible misfortune. It was one of our most important gigs and - naturally - I had fallen ill just the day before. Then the doctor gave me an injection in my bottom and gave me some pain killers.
The guys in the band are world class musicians, but I do have some small advantages compared to them. As I said before, as a singer of a cover band performing in pubs you get to hear all kind of stuff " You suck, you´re such a bad singer" and such beautiful things. After gigs like that you are more ready to receive s**t in in your back so I wasn´t confused in Rock am Ring either. Marco started to tell the audience some story and I wanted to sing Amaranth a cappella. We finally came through the situation reasonably well, but Jukka and Marco were both in a very bad mood afterwards. The chairs backstage received some violent treatment. I was sitting outside waiting for the Finnish blood to cool off...

- Soon after I joined the band our manager said I was being too nice. Meaning I said too much "yes, yes". But naturally I wanted to show the band I was worth their trust. During the last months I have understood, anyhow, that I cannot go on saying "yes" all the time. It´s simply too much. I´m an ambitous singer and I want our gigs to be diamond. That´s why my schedule has been lightened up lately. I must concentrate on my principal task.

- I came to Nightwish from a completely different world. I have been singing my whole life but my pay job has been for example in offices.
Working in a band is a totally different thing. It is not unusual that I hear of an interview or a photo shooting only some time before it starts. For moments the situation has been simply too much and I have had for example panic attacks. Now I know much better what I can take and the situation is much better.
Luckily I can handle my stress through sleeping. So I don´t go to a bar or anything like that - no, I think, now to bed and tomorrow is a brand new day.

- Sometimes I feel lonely on tour as I am the only girl there. I am not very keen on giving interviews right now, when certain journalists only want to ask about my divorce and my new relationship. And yes, I do have a new boyfriend and he´s Swedish so all speculations about my boyfriend being a band member can be forgotten.

Then Anette talks about all the comments she has received about her dresses:
- I believe Nightwish is a band that should try out new things and create new trends. I do things on stage that no other metal artist does. Of course some people find it very difficult to accept. And it should be added that I still do love black clothes, but it´s summertime now!
- I´m very interested in fashion and all kinds of clothes. I´m practically a shoppaholic and buy new clothes almost every day and I like to combine different styles. But I also get bored very quickly so that´s why I change my style on stage so often. That´s also the reason why I like to dye my hair constantly. I would be bored to death if I had to wear the same clothes night after night. The guys can do 10 gigs in a row in their old jeans and t-shirts without any problem. Except for the smell and the dirt...
- My clothes are almost without exception from Scandinavia. We have toures a lot in North-America and it´s always great to introduce Nordic design there. I want to show I´m Swedish and that the band comes from the Nordic countries.

Anette says her Leave me alone - tattoo has been a topic in different forums.
- Leave me alone is a very strong statement and people can naturally wonder why I took it in the first place. Well, I did want to tattoo a strong statement and taking it felt good. And it still does. Through images I can express things I wouldn´t necessarily say out loud.
(And btw, it is not a tribute to Hanna Pakarinen!)
- I have always loved tattoos and piercings but have not been able to take them before due to my jobs. The situation is now slightly different! My mother doesn´t like my tattoos at all, but it´s my body after all.
